Sophos Home Premium: How to fix some error while install Sophos Home on Windows 7.

Overview.

These issues  usually happen due to corrupted files or remnants from previous installations of Sophos Home or other Sophos versions, especially when using a third-party uninstaller that may delete components that are required to properly uninstall Sophos. 
The problems can also occur when another security software is installed, or if the operating system files are corrupted/permissions are not properly set. 

The article will guide you to fix some errors while installing Sophos Home.

Instructions

Error 1: Sophos Home cannot be installed until your computer is restarted.

If restarting your computer doesn’t work, reinstalling still gives you the same error. You can fix the error in the following ways.

Option 1: Make sure you have fully updated windows and try reinstalling. If it doesn’t work, try option 2.

Option 2: Check Registry.

You should be careful in changing the Registry. If you do not find the flags as instructed below, you can do the option 3.

On the Windows search bar, enter “regedit” and press Enter.

Follow the path below:

32-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sophos\AutoUpdate\UpdateStatus\VolatileFlags

64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Sophos\AutoUpdate\UpdateStatus\VolatileFlags.

Click on “RebootRequired” and change the value data to 0 if it is 1 and click Ok.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Session Manager.

Rename the entry PendingFileRenameOperations to OldPendingFileRenameOperations

Clear the contents of the %windir%\Temp folder (This is typically C:\Windows\temp).

Reinstall Sophos Home.

Option 3:

Option 3: Delete previous Sophos Home.

If you can’t find the flags in the registry and you’re still getting an error message when you reinstall, it could be caused by leftover Sophos Home installation files or a version of the Sophos software you deleted earlier. You need to delete these files.

On computer, you should only use 1 anti-virus software to avoid software conflicts.

Click Download Troubleshooter.

Run the program, you can select Install first to try to install again, but if that doesn’t work, you should choose Uninstall to cleanly uninstall and reinstall from scratch.

Then the program will list out a list of installed applications on your computer, select Sophos Home, Sophos Antivirus or other anti-virus software that you no longer use and click Next to delete.

Restart your computer and reinstall.

Error 2: The Exception unknown software exception (0x40000015).

This error appears when even though Sophos Home has been installed on the device, it is not possible to enter the Sophos Home user interface on the computer as shown below.

This error often appears when installing on Windows 7 because the update not up-to-date.

Select Download.

Click to download the x64 or x86 windows update depending on the operating system you use.

After downloading, run the update and restart the computer. You can then use the user interface of Sophos Home.
