With an Android device policy you configure settings for Android devices enrolled with Sophos Mobile in device administrator management mode. Google now deprecates the device administrator management mode and is reducing its range of functions. We recommend that you use the Android Enterprise management mode instead.
The article will guide you how to configure Device Policy for Android devices such as disabling the camera or require to change the password on the phone.
Step 1: Create Device Policy.
Log in to Sophos Central. In the My Products section, select Mobile.
Go to Configure > Policies > Android > Create > Device Policy.
In Edit Policy:
Name: Enter the name of the Policy you want
Click Add Configuration.
In Basic Configurations select Password policies
In Password policies you can choose the password type, password length,…
Continue to select Restrictions, scroll down to the Hardware section. Tick uncheck Allow camera, this will disable unusable camera.
Step 2: Assign Policy.
At the newly configured policy, click the blue arrow next to it, select Assgin.
Click on the device of user you want to apply the policy (Ex: RedmiJohn). You can also click Select device group to apply the policy to multiple android mobile devices of user in the group. Click Next.
Select Now to immediately apply the policy to the device. Click Finish.
Step 3: Check apply policy on the device.
You open the Sophos Mobile Control application on your phone. Policies have been updated.
Password Polices are applied to change the password type.
Other password changes are not allowed and the policy to disable the camera has also been applied.
