Acronis Cyber Protect 15: How to configure Backup and Recovery File/Folders.

1.Overview.

Acronis Cyber Protect 15 is a software protection for businesses looking for an all-in-one solution that can detect and mitigate cyberattacks, and back up data with disaster recovery.

With feature backup file/folders will not be enough to restore the operating system. It is advisable to choose to back up files/folders if you plan to protect only certain data (e.g. current project). This will reduce the backup size, thus saving storage space.

SERVER01 will be installed as Acronis Management Server, SERVER02 will be installed as Acronis Agent connect to SERVER01 to backup configurations.

3. Scenarios

We will configure backup SERVER01 with Backup File/Folder feature for DataBackup Folder and save it to Data SRV1 Folder on SERVER02. After the backup has been successful, we will try to delete the data in the DataBackup Folder and proceed to recover this folder with the existing backup file.

The data in the DataBackup folder includes Test1, 2 and 3 file.

4. Intructions

Step 1: Configure Backup File/Folder SERVER01

Login to Acronis Management Server on a browser like: https://172.16.31.62:9877.

Go to Device > click SERVER01 (WIN-B12UL259SIV) > Protect.

Rename New Protection Plan to the name of the plan you want. Ex: Backup SRV1 File/Folder.

What to backup: choose File/Folder type.

Items to backup: click Specify > select Select files and folders.

Select Local Folder > open C drive > select DataBackup folder. Click Done.

Where to back up: click Specify > Network Folder > enter ip \\172.16.31.64 (SERVER02) > Enter Username and Password to login SERVER02 select Data SRV1 folder.

Schedule (Select Backup Scheme: Fulll, Differential, Incremental Backup by day, week, month and start time run backup).

How long to keep (Time to keep old backups file of Fulll, Differential, Incremental Backup). Then click Apply.

Click Apply and click Run Now.

After click Run Now, click on the clock icon on the left side to see the backup process.

The backup process has been completed.

Step 2: Check Result

Login to SERVER02 > open the Data SRV1 folder. You will see an Acronis backup file of the DataBackup folder.

To check you click open this file. You will see 3 files in DataBackup folder.

Step 3: Recover File/Folder in DataBackup Folder.

Delete the files in the DataBackup folder on SERVER01 and recover these files from the existing Acronis backup file.

Go to Device > click choose SERVER01 (WIN-B12UL259SIV) > Recovery.

Check Storage is: \\172.16.31.64\Data SRV1\. This is the folder containing the Acronis backup file File/Folder of the DataBackup folder on SERVER01. Click RECOVER FILES/FOLDERS.

Open C Drive , you can choose to recover both the DataBackup folder or the small files/folders inside.

Click choose the File/Folders you need to recover. Here you have 2 options. Click Download to download all files to be recovered to your local machine.

Or click Recover to recover the file to somewhere else in the network. Click Custom location > Browse.

You can choose Network Folder or Local Folder. Because the DataBackup folder is located on SERVER01, it needs to be recovered after it has been deleted, so I will choose Local Folder. Open the C drive and select the DataBackup folder.

Click Start Recovery.

Continue click Proceed.

File/folder recovery is successful.

Step 4: Check Result

Open the DataBackup folder on SERVER01, you will see 3 files Test1, 2, 3 have been successfully recovered.
