What is App Control on Sophos Mobile Control
In Sophos Mobile Control you can define list of apps, called app groups, for app reputation purposes. For example:
Apps that users are allowed to install on their devices (allowed apps)
Apps that users are not allowed to install on their devices (forbidden apps)
When you define allowed apps, all other apps not included in the app group are forbidden
When you define forbidden apps, all other apps not included in the app group are allowed
App group contain apps for a specific platform – Android, iOS or Windows Mobile. To cover apps from more than one platform, you need to create separate app groups
Guide to blocking an app on Sophos Central
- Login to Sophos Central by Admin account
- If you do not have a Admin account, create a Sophos Central account
- Mobile -> Apps -> Android
- Click Add app -> Android link
- Import Name, App Category -> Click Go to Google Play to get link app -> Click Get Data -> Click Save
- SETTINGS -> App groups -> Android -> Click Create App group
- Choose App and Click Add
- Import Name and Click Save
- CONFIGURE -> Click Create -> Device profile
- Import Name -> Click Add configuration
- Choose App Control -> Click Next
- In add group, choose group which created before -> Click Apply
- MANAGE -> Devices -> Choose device which you want to apply that policy
- Choose Profiles -> Click Install profile
- Choose Profile and Click OK
-> Policy will apply to your device, app will disappear on your device, you cannot connect to that app -> Finish
